Bookish Updates: November

So I've got some news. I have three books I'm going to read this month. 1. Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontё A classic Gothic romance novel about a strong and independent woman that I have avoided for far too long. 2. The Handmaid's Tale , by Margaret Atwood It's a science fiction novel about a dystopian society where women only have one purpose - to breed, and if they don't they get executed. This book has been on my list ever since I read Atwood's nonfiction book In Other Worlds: SF and the Human Imagination , the review for which you can read right here . 3. Finally, I've got a Swedish legal handbook called En Liten Bok Om Upphovsrätt För Dig Som Skriver Och Ger Ut , which basically means "a small book about copyright for authors".  I'm an author (sort of), it's good to be updated on all the legal aspects of the creative process. These are my picks for November. What are you reading?

Recaps and updates: Friday

I was going to write my second "Thank Spock it's Friday" segment today, but something has happened, which made me change my plans. As you may know, I live in Sweden. There is a town in Sweden, called Trollhaettan. In this town there's a school, called Kronan. Yesterday, that school was attacked by a masked man with a sword. He killed a teacher and a student, wounded three more people, before the police could arrive and shoot him. After doing the research on the killer, and taking into consideration that all of his victims were immigrants, the police has now confirmed that this was a hate crime. A racist crime. I'd rather not to give my two cents on the news. My blog is not political, it's about entertainment. But I cannot be quiet about it either. Four years ago there was a massacre in Norway, and we were all shocked because a thing like this could never happen in a small and peaceful country like Norway. But the murderer w...

Upcoming Reviews: October

So after months of counting pros and cons, I finally took a leap of faith in myself and started a new book blog. It's been a while, and I realise now, that I've missed writing reviews. It's been a slow and mind-melting summer, but with the October chill finally in the air, I'm able to think straight and - most importantly - commit myself writing again. Without further ado, I give you a list of titles I'm planning on reviewing this month. I've chosen these particular books, because I think they will set the tone for this blog. Here we go... 1. Tooth and Claw , by Jo Walton It's like Dynasty , but with dragons instead of people. I'm reading this novel as we speak, while jotting down notes for the upcoming review. Can't spoil anything at the moment, but just the idea of a high society drama involving dragons is enough to tickle my imagination. 2. In Other Worlds , by Margaret Atwood Another book I found during my "library scaveng...
