This week's random question: Have you ever chosen a book mostly because of its cover art and then regretted it because the content didn't live up to your expectations?
Three words: Pride, prejudice, zombies. I mostly read this book because of the upcoming movie adaptation, but it was the cover art that made this book stand out from all the other titles on my "maybe" list. The image of a high society zombie girl, created by Doogie Horner was basically a spoof of William Beechey's painting of Marcia Fox (thank you, Wikipedia). It's a funny and provocative artwork that promises an equally funny and provocative story. Alas, the story is boring and the humour is dull and juvenile.

Interesting. I started reading this book a few years ago, I don't remember how I was feeling about it at the time but I never actually finished it. I was contemplating picking it up again before the movie comes out but now I'm conflicted. Maybe I'll do something uncharacteristic of me by skipping the book and going straight to the movie instead...
ReplyDeleteI barely finished the book myself. The trailer actually promises a much more interesting and action packed story than the book 😆 fingers crossed.
DeleteYeah, its decided. I'm going to skip the book for now. Maybe after watching the movie if I find myself with nothing better to read I'll give it a try then...
DeleteSometimes it's fun to read the book after having watched the movie. That is if the movie is good 😆😁
DeleteAh, I hate when a book is disappointing...I read one like that last week....here is my MONDAY MUSINGS POST
ReplyDeleteSorry for the late reply. What was your disappointing read?
