The time has come, my friends! The time to do my very first real book haul. Remember when I made a New Year resolution to spoil myself with new books? Well, in the past couple of months, I have been honouring this quite selfish resolution, and today I have not one but four new books to show you, as well four new comic books (and one book-related movie).
Now, these books have been on my TBR for a very long time. Except for The Martian. I've already read that book, I just wanted to own a copy of it. This is the most books that I have bought in the course of two months (college books don't count), so I guess you can say I went a little nuts. On the other hand, I got them all very cheap. My budget was one hundred Swedish Crowns or less.
1. The Martian
I like the book, and I love the movie. And now I can enjoy them both. For the record, I hate it when they reprint books with movie posters on the cover, but if a movie is as great as this one, I'll make an exception. Plus, it's Matt Damon's face. Who ever complained about that?
2. Jurassic Park
This book was already mentioned on my list, Ten movies most people don't know were based on books, and I'm really looking forward to reading this dino-thriller.
3. Whuthering Heights
This old classic has been on my list ever since I heard Kate Bush's musical homage to the tragic love story of Heathcliff and Catherine. The song may also have spoiled a few key plot points for me, but whatever.
4. Lords of the Sith
This bestselling Darth Vader book has been on my TBR for a very long time, and I bought it on May the 4th because the book store was having a Star Wars day sale. Revenge of the fifth, puny Jedi!
5. The X-files, season 11 comics
Bought these four volumes for ten Crowns a piece on the big national book sale. It hurt my inner X-phile to see them whither away on the shelf with all the other books nobody wanted to pay full price for (come on, it's X-files!). Funny thing, is that three of the volumes are Home Again, which is a sequel to the infamous season three episode Home. A classic episode that I have yet to see. So, of course, I haven't read the comics yet.
So, this concludes this spring book haul. I'm currently working on my review for The Silent Steppe, so we have that to look forward to.
